Beyond The Pale

What does it mean when my semen changes color?

Lovecentria Answers

In the off chance that you catch sight of your semen, expect it to be pearly white. But if it’s not, don’t panic. Some simple things can change your hue.

Clear. Ejaculate should become transparent after a few spurts. But if your initial ejaculate is clear, it means the seminal vesicles (which secrete the milky substance that makes semen congeal) aren’t doing their job. See a urologist.

Yellow. The pelvic muscles that usually seal off your bladder during ejaculation probably allowed some urine to escape. It’s not serious, but see a doctor if it happens often. It could be a urinary-tract infection, which can decrease your chances of conveying children. Urine can injure sperm.

Red or Brown. That’s probably blood from a small, broken blood vessel in your prostate. It’s like blowing your nose and seeing a little red. Ignore it. If it’s still red few days later, see a urologist to rule out infection or bladder cancer.

That’s it. I have varicocele and my urologist told me that there might be a chance that it might affect my sperm production. If my semen is pearly white, then that means my sperm production is not affected, right? Right?
